April’s products of the month choices are from Ali, who works in our Marketing team. Ali has just finished a substantial whole house renovation which included a reconfiguration of the kitchen and dining area. Ali explains more below.
“Keeping the old kitchen units and appliances was never really an option. We went for the wrecking ball approach throughout and our outdated 70s bungalow is now an open plan modern home.
It was so exciting to be able to create the kitchen of my dreams after many years of living in rental properties and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. Buying the appliances didn’t cause too many headaches; working at Knees means I have access to some great advice!
I knew I wanted a high end range cooker but gravitated towards a more modern look. The Rangemaster Elise Induction in stainless steel was the obvious choice, with a Rangemaster Hood. Having two ovens (one fan and one multi-function) works brilliantly. During the week, I tend to use the smaller fan oven. At weekends or for entertaining, we often use the main oven for a roast or larger meal while my budding Junior MasterChefs cook up a pudding or some cookies in the smaller oven. Both ovens cook food noticeably better than other ovens I have used before.
I was a bit uncertain about the induction hob but can happily confirm induction lives up to every bit of the hype. It’s super fast, controlling the heat is incredibly precise and it’s a dream to clean. No more heavy pan trivets or food stuck to the bottom of pans for me!
We love our Bosch Dishwasher (SMV69L15). It’s got enough programmes to make sure pots, glasses and dishes come out sparkly and clean, whether it’s a longer, hotter wash after a heavy duty dinner or a quick rinse after a light snack, but not so much tech that we are overwhelmed by choices. The top tray for cutlery is fantastic and somehow makes unloading it less of a chore – even my children help!
Experience had taught us that an American style fridge freezer would be our best option. We opted for a Samsung (RS7567BHCSL) with an A+ energy rating and a low noise level; 39 decibels in this case. Noise levels are something which are often overlooked but which can significantly affect the enjoyment and use of your kitchen, especially if it’s an open plan kitchen/diner. Our dishwasher is barely audible, also at 39 decibels. As you would expect from Samsung, there are lots of great touches from wide door racks to a roomy dairy compartment and lots of space to keep food tidy and easily accessible.
Finally, I have to mention the delivery service which was on time, quick, efficient and came with a cheerful smile – something which can go a long way when you are tackling a big project.”
