Find the perfect wine cooler with this guide
Wine cooler buyers guide
Wine coolers have become increasingly popular over the last few years. More people are spending time at home and enjoying drinks with friends in the garden rather than going out to a pub. There are many different wine coolers to choose from though, so here is a handy guide to help you out.
Wine cooler size
Our wine coolers come in all sorts of different sizes.
If you are looking to fit your wine cooler into a particular space under your counter in a kitchen, then an integrated upright option may be better for you. If you are looking to just keep a few favorites cool, and have limited space, then a smaller free-standing appliance may be better for you.
Number of bottles in the wine cooler
Another important consideration when buying a wine cooler is how many bottles you’d like to store in your cooler. Wine coolers can fit anywhere between 6 to 140 bottles in. Remember your collection may grow over time so think about how many bottles you’d like to collect and of course also how quickly you think you will be drinking them.
One or two temperature zones?
Keeping your favorite wine at the right temperature can mean that they age better. If you’re a fan of white wines, the best temperature is between 9-10 degrees. Red wines however prefer a slightly warmer temperature of around 12-15 degrees.
Look out for a wine cooler with multiple zones if you like a mixture of red and white wines. That way you can keep both at the right temperature and they will be perfect when you are ready to pop the cork and enjoy your favorite tipple.
Look out for the energy rating label on wine coolers. The higher the rating the more energy efficient your appliance will be. This could save you money in the long run as you will spend less on electricity to keep your appliance going.
Some wine coolers now come with LED lights installed, these are a great feature to highlight your favorite bottles without damaging the content with harmful UV rays. Look out for UV-resistant windows too if you are worried about UV rays damaging your bottles.
